Perth
Perth is Australia's most isolated and arguably most spectacular major city, a beautiful coastal metropolis of extraordinary white sand beaches, outstanding food and wine culture anchored by the Swan Valley and Margaret River wine regions, world class surf, the remarkable wildlife of Rottnest Island and a relaxed lifestyle shaped by the Indian Ocean. For those who make the journey, Perth consistently delivers more than expected.
Elect's take
"Perth rewards the effort required to reach it. The beaches are extraordinary, the food and wine culture is outstanding and the combination of big city facilities with a relaxed coastal lifestyle creates something I find genuinely appealing."
Cottesloe Beach is one of the most beautiful urban beaches in Australia, a beautiful stretch of white sand and clear Indian Ocean water with an excellent café culture along the beachfront. Rottnest Island, accessible by ferry from Fremantle, is home to the quokka, one of the world's most photogenic animals, and provides beautiful beaches, cycling and snorkelling in a car-free island environment. The Swan Valley wine region is approximately 30 minutes from the city. Margaret River, one of Australia's finest wine regions producing outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, is approximately three hours south and combines world class wines with surf breaks and beautiful karri forest. Fremantle, Perth's historic port, is beautiful and has an outstanding arts and food scene.
