The Montrachet grand cru vineyard, shared between Puligny-Montrachet and neighbouring Chassagne-Montrachet, produces what is widely considered the greatest dry white wine in the world from a tiny plot of land of extraordinary value. The village itself is small and unassuming, with a handful of excellent restaurants and wine shops providing access to producers including Domaine Leflaive, one of the most celebrated names in white Burgundy. The surrounding Côte de Beaune landscape of vineyard slopes, stone walls and small villages is beautiful for cycling and walking. Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy with its magnificent Hôtel-Dieu, is approximately 15 minutes away.
