Legian
Legian is a beach district between the busy tourist hub of Kuta and the fashionable Seminyak, providing a slightly quieter alternative with a beautiful long stretch of sandy beach, excellent sunset views, a good range of restaurants and bars and convenient access to both the nightlife of Kuta and the sophistication of Seminyak. For visitors seeking Bali's classic beach resort experience with good value and central location, Legian provides an excellent balance.
Elect's take
"Legian provides a useful middle ground in Bali's southern beach belt — close enough to Kuta's energy and Seminyak's sophistication while maintaining a slightly calmer atmosphere and excellent value for beachfront accommodation."
Legian Beach is part of the long stretch of sand running from Kuta through Legian to Seminyak, providing excellent surf for beginners, beautiful sunset views and a slightly less crowded atmosphere than Kuta itself. The restaurant and bar scene along Jalan Padma and the beachfront provides good variety from casual warungs to more upscale dining. The central location provides walking access to Kuta's nightlife to the south and Seminyak's beach clubs and boutiques to the north. The Bali Bombing Memorial on Jalan Legian provides a sombre but important historical reflection point. Double Six Beach at the northern end of Legian is particularly popular for sunset.
