Elect's take

"Al Jahra provides a window into Kuwait's pre-oil history and desert heritage that complements the more contemporary experience of Kuwait City. The Red Fort has genuine historical significance and the desert reserves offer a different perspective on the country's landscape."

The Red Fort (Qasr Al Ahmar) in Al Jahra is a significant historical fortification built from mud brick, notable for its role in the 1920 Battle of Jahra which was important in Kuwait's history of resistance against Ikhwan raiders. The surrounding desert landscapes provide access to Kuwait's natural environment, with the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Reserve and other protected areas offering opportunities to observe desert wildlife and vegetation. Al Jahra's position at the head of the Gulf has historically made it strategically and economically significant for trade routes connecting the coast with the interior of the Arabian Peninsula.
