Elect's take
"Eryri is one of Britain's most dramatic landscapes and one that I find consistently beautiful. The combination of the mountains, the lakes, the Welsh language culture and the extraordinary outdoor activities creates a destination that rewards both ambitious walkers and those who simply want to experience genuinely wild British scenery."
Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) at 1085 metres is the highest peak in England and Wales, accessible by the historic Snowdon Mountain Railway from Llanberis or by six different walking routes ranging from the family-friendly Llanberis Path to the challenging Watkin Path. The Pyg Track and Miners' Track provide outstanding ridge walking. The mountain village of Betws-y-Coed is a beautiful base in the forest of the Conwy Valley. Blaenau Ffestiniog's underground slate caverns provide extraordinary industrial heritage experiences including Bounce Below. The Llyn Peninsula to the west has outstanding coastline and the Lleyn AONB. Harlech Castle provides dramatic hilltop castle scenery above Cardigan Bay.
