Perched on the Corniche Kennedy almost over the Mediterranean, nhow Marseille is a 2018 reinvention of the 1976 Palm Beach hotel, refurbished by local architects Claire Fatosme and Christian Lefèvre with ground-floor spaces by Italian designer Teresa Sapey. Sapey's colour-drenched Tunnel Bar, a gradient-lit passage between the Roucas Blanc spring and the sea, leads to a Mediterranean restaurant, while the third-floor Sky Bar boasts a chandelier of 4,000 steel sardines created by English artist Frances Bromley for Sciabetti, plus sweeping bay views. Most of its 150 rooms open onto balconies facing the Calanques and Château d'If, and there are two pools, a spa and extensive meeting space. It suits sun-seekers and conference guests wanting Marseille's rebellious, seaside energy.
