Algarve (Alvor)
Alvor is a beautiful traditional fishing village on the western Algarve, combining a picturesque riverside estuary, one of the region's most outstanding beaches at Alvor Beach, an excellent daily fish market, a charming old town of whitewashed houses and narrow cobblestone streets and outstanding access to the golf courses and beaches of the western Algarve. Less developed than Vilamoura or Albufeira, Alvor provides an authentic and beautiful Algarve experience.

"Alvor has maintained a character that many Algarve resorts have lost. The fishing village atmosphere, the outstanding beach and the beautiful estuary boardwalk create something genuinely enjoyable beyond the standard resort experience."
Alvor Beach is one of the finest in the western Algarve, a long stretch of golden sand backed by dunes and fronting beautifully clear Atlantic water. The estuary boardwalk provides a beautiful circular walk through the protected Alvor Estuary natural reserve with outstanding birdwatching. The daily fish market in the harbour is excellent. The old town of Alvor has a pleasant concentration of traditional restaurants serving excellent grilled fish and local dishes. The Algarve golf corridor centred on Penina and the surrounding courses provides outstanding golfing within minutes. Portimão and Lagos, both excellent Algarve towns, are approximately 5 minutes away.
