In the heart of Milan's Tortona design district, a quarter it helped transform, nhow Milano occupies a former General Electric factory reimagined by architect Matteo Thun, whose steel columns still stand sentry in the corridors. Opened in 2007 as the brand's first hotel, its 246 rooms mix eclectic, custom-designed furniture with a vivid palette and Artemide lighting, and the lounge bar carries a neon-toned Karim Rashid signature. Up top, Vertigo by Purobeach adds a rooftop pool club, cocktail bar and restaurant. Opposite the MUDEC museum and steps from Armani/Silos and the Navigli canals, it suits design, fashion and art crowds, especially during Salone del Mobile.
