Estepona
Estepona is one of the most charming and authentic towns on the Costa del Sol, a beautifully maintained Andalusian town of whitewashed streets, flower-filled alleys, excellent seafood restaurants and a beautiful blue flag beach. Less developed and more genuinely Spanish than neighbouring Marbella, Estepona has preserved its traditional character while developing an outstanding orchid house and excellent tourist infrastructure.
Elect's take
"Estepona has maintained an authenticity that many Costa del Sol towns have lost. The whitewashed old town, the excellent seafood, the beautiful beaches and the quieter atmosphere make it one of my preferred bases on the coast."
The old town of Estepona is a beautifully maintained example of traditional Andalusian urban design with flower-filled alleys and remarkable floral murals. The Orchidarium is an extraordinary botanical garden housing over 5000 orchid species. The beaches along the Estepona seafront are excellent blue flag beaches. Numerous golf courses make it popular with golfers. The Selwo Aventura wildlife park is a good family option.
