The Cimadevilla neighbourhood on the headland above the port is Gijón's most atmospheric quarter, with excellent cider bars, seafood restaurants and beautiful views. The Playa de San Lorenzo is one of the finest urban beaches in northern Spain. The Roman thermae beneath the Plaza del Marqués provide an extraordinary insight into the city's ancient past. The Picos de Europa mountains are approximately one hour by road.
