Playa de Sotavento is one of Spain's most extraordinary beaches, a vast stretch of white sand on the sheltered eastern side of the Jandía Peninsula forming a natural lagoon at low tide ideal for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The beach hosts the Fuerteventura World Windsurfing Championships. The Jandía Natural Park protects the most remote and unspoiled part of the peninsula. The lighthouse at Punta Jandía at the southern tip provides dramatic Atlantic views.
