Elect's take

"Krabi has a natural drama that I find genuinely extraordinary. The combination of the limestone karsts rising from the sea, the extraordinary clarity of the Andaman water and the outstanding beaches creates a seascape that I consider among the most beautiful in the world."

Railay Beach, accessible only by boat due to the surrounding limestone cliffs, is one of Thailand's most beautiful beaches, a stretch of white sand surrounded by dramatic karst formations and providing outstanding rock climbing on the surrounding cliffs. The Phi Phi Islands, approximately 45 minutes by speedboat from Krabi, combine the dramatic Maya Bay of The Beach film fame with some of the finest snorkelling in Thailand. The Tiger Cave Temple above Krabi Town provides 1237 steps to a summit with extraordinary panoramic views over the surrounding limestone landscape. The four islands boat trip from Ao Nang is excellent.
