Berlin is one of Europe's most compelling cities. The combination of history, culture, contemporary art and nightlife creates an atmosphere unlike anywhere else on the continent. Munich delivers a completely different experience, with a strong sense of tradition, excellent beer halls and easy access to the Bavarian Alps. Beyond the major cities Germany excels at regional variety. The Rhine and Moselle valleys offer beautiful river scenery and excellent wine, while cities such as Hamburg, Cologne and Dresden each have their own distinct cultural identity. Germany also has some outstanding luxury hotels, from elegant city properties to countryside retreats in spectacular natural settings.
